About Nextlaw Ventures

The business of law has not benefitted from technology like other professional services industries.

We’re changing that.

We are a globally active early stage venture investor that focuses exclusively on legal technology. Our current portfolio consists of ten innovative legal tech companies located in the U.S. and abroad. Please check them out.

Our role is to help grow the companies we invest in by tapping into the resources of our team, our investors and our global network.  If a legal tech company wants to work with a global law firm, or a one man shop, or focus on almost any legal jurisdiction in the world, or explore almost any legal practice area imaginable….we make that happen for them. If the portfolio company is focused on the corporate client side of the law, we have access to thousands of clients through our network.

Our business model is unique, and our ability to help our legal technology companies grow is unmatched.

Seedcamp

We partnered with Seedcamp, the first round fund for ambitious founders, to co-sponsor a global callout to early stage legal tech startups. We selected two promising young companies, Clause and Libryo, which received training, mentorship and investment from both Nextlaw Labs and Seedcamp. We hope to continue this program and are developing similar partnerships around the world to find the best legal tech companies.

Legal Geek

Legal Geek is a community of legal tech startups focused on providing online resources, thought leadership, social gatherings and events. Nextlaw Ventures partnered with Legal Geek in an unprecedented European road trip to scout high potential legal tech startups and provided travel grants for 20 founders selected from the road trip to attend the Legal Geek Conference in London in Oct 2017. We are exploring future collaborations like this successful initial partnership, including new geographies.
